kitty illustration:)

I did a charcoal drawing of a cat some time back and thought of using it in an illustration. I know this kitty looks a bit scared here!.....so i showed her hiding amongst flowers:) now m having ideas of doing more stuff in charcoal and photoshopping it with other elements........hmmm.....will be working on that over the weekend.

Finally water color!

Been trying out my hand at watercolor recently and decided to make a print out of a simple watercolor illustration i made of a leaf some time back. So I used this painting and photoshopped it on the background of a vintage envelope! I call this particualr piece "Memories" I had been completely out of touch with water coloring for quite sometime....now this particular one has definitely set me in the mood for some more!.....you all will soon get to see more of watercolor prints......:)

I was scribbling some leaves the other day and decided to work on them on photoshop!.....and voila!.... i come up with this surface patter design. i think its really simple and cute:)

I love Tea-dyed paper and thought of giving a rustic tea-dyed look to my cards ....esp for those who prefer milder tones. The theme behind creating this design was to give it the feel of an old salvaged and faded Paisely design ...as classy and timeless as a traditional eastern wedding:)

Thats a new one i've just started working on. Basically i want to do an entire series based "Butterflies and Baroque". I'm a sucker for Baroque vintage wallpaper designs!....can you all suggest any sites or blogs featuring any ?

My husband is in an underground rock band called [NO IDEA] . I often photograph for his band and come up with stuff for their site n all! Recently i designed two posters for his upcoming gig:) hope u guys like 'em.....do comment!

All Things Organic

"Organic", is the talk of the town these days. From "organic foods" to "organic agriculture" and even "orgnaic baby products", the world it seems is going back to basics. "Going organic" is the new term I use for freeing your life from everything artificial, and relishing the beauty of the natural. My photoshoot this time went organic too. I wanted to capture in this shoot ...the life in the basic organic and seemingly ordinary things. Like the pod, in the first picture, bursting open to give out its fertile seeds. The long hair of the seed would then provide a natural dispersal mechanism and thus without any interference the plant can sustain its life.

The twists and turns of the ropes and the texture of the brick was what grabbed my attention for the above picture....ordinary?...yes...thats what i found beautiful.

My maid had left her hand-made broom lying on the floor and so i took a few shots at it. She made it herself tearing off the leaf blades from the stem of dried coconut tree leaves. The stems would then be gathered and tied to make the broom...quite an effort!

Thats it for now i guess will be snapping some more and putting it up soon, in the meanwhile I am rushing off to design some "organic" theme prints....:)

Mocachino!

Well its freezing these days by Karachi's standards and my double layer of socks cant do a thing to keep my feet warm ! In that case its me and a yummy cup of coffee .....though only when its so bad i cant feel my hands!..Anyways the other day it was while making coffee that i got the inspiration of making this photoshop retouched pastel drawing !....just my interpretation of yummy coffee and chocolate mixing with warm milk!....hope looking at makes you crave for some!;)

charming!

wow! I love charms! you can find beads n things to make them from so many different places!...it was so much fun when i went to look for them in places like thrift markets and antique jewellery stores. They can be of any material ranging from bones to glass, ceramic to plastic, semi-precious stones to wood,metal to shells....! In some cultures like in case of moroccan berbers or african tribals they can hold religious or superstitious value. i made these charms out of the beads i collected and used them to hang from cushions inspired by the moroccan culture.



I also tried making some using silk banarsi cloth and embroidered it myelf!
